Thermal Insulation

The term external thermal insulation or thermal facade essentially refers to the insulation work of the exterior of a building using specialized materials and methods.

The surface of the walls of the building and the thickness of the insulating material are the two main factors that affect the cost of the insulation procedure. Also, you can only insulate a specific wall, from which heat is lost, or make a total exterior thermal insulation, which is also known as thermal facade or shell and is more expensive.

Saving energy and money, increasing the value of the building, immediate implementation, better living conditions and flexibility in any architectural changes are the main benefits of applying external thermal insulation or thermal facade in a house, apartment or workplace.

For new buildings, the application of external thermal insulation is now almost a one-way street, but it is also an extremely efficient option for existing buildings that have been constructed with conventional insulation methods. The reason is that the thermal facade saves up to 40% more energy than the simple wall insulation method, commonly using double row of bricks with the insulating material inserted between them.

Regarding the interior proccess, thermal insulation boards are placed inside the walls or on the ceiling of a house or business space. As a result, this space quickly acquires the desired level of heating or cooling, but does not retain it as efficiently as in the case of thermal facade application.

  1. The surface (individual wall or set of exterior walls) is cleaned and loose mortars are removed.  

  2. The level of the facades is checked.   

  3. If necessary, the marbles are placed on the windows.   

  4. Horizontal guide is placed at the base of the building.   

  5. Thermal insulation boards are installed and a waterproofing and protection zone is created. 

  6.  The gaps between the joints are covered and the surface is sanded to make it smooth.

  7. The basic coating is applied and then, when it hardens, the primer is applied.

 

Expanded polystyrene with a thickness of more than 10 mm is considered one of the best thermal insulation materials for thermal facade. It is advisable to install as thick a material as possible to achieve even better external thermal insulation.
